The Malaysian Wood Industries Association (MWIA), formerly known as Timber Trade Federation Malaysia, has been a cornerstone of the timber industry since its establishment in 1957. Comprising seven state associations in Peninsular Malaysia, including the Johor Wood Industries Association, Perak Timber Trade Association, Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Wood Industries Association, and others, MWIA represents a diverse range of businesses in the timber sector.

Initially focused on sawmillers in Peninsular Malaysia, MWIA’s scope expanded over the years to encompass various upstream and downstream activities within the timber industry. This evolution led to a name change in 2000, reflecting the association’s broader representation and interests.

MWIA’s primary objective is to promote and foster the interests of the timber industry. In pursuit of this goal, MWIA has established strong connections with government bodies such as the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) and the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC). Through collaborative efforts and strategic partnerships, MWIA plays a pivotal role in advancing the timber sector’s growth and sustainability in Malaysia.
